Douglas Torbeck, G.G
My path to becoming a professional jewelry appraiser was born out of a passion for the raw and cut minerals and gemstones of the Earth; an intersection of science and beauty; mathematics and creativity. Basically, I love rocks!
At the University of Illinois, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Physics, and continued at the U of I to earn my Master’s degree in Geology. Even by then, my professional interests were turning towards gemology and jewelry appraising. I entered the industry working at jewelry stores in New Jersey and Illinois, all while continuing my education with the Gemological Institute of America, earning my Graduate Gemologist degree.
Currently, I am pleased to offer my expertise and services as an independent jewelry appraiser in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, assisting people with the valuation of their jewelry, gemstones, and precious metals for insurance, estate, and selling purposes.
I would love to hear about the unique story of your treasures, and how I can be of assistance in their identification and valuation. Please reach out to us through our Contact page for a preliminary quote and availability.
